I've tried other brands as no chest strap lasts forever. I wash them after each use, dry them and let them dry. And after six months of daily use, one hour a day, they still break or the electrodes start to fail. But since they bathe in body-warm sweat for an hour a day, that's not a big deal. Cheaper brands work. In my opinion they are less comfortable. Are they worth the extra cost? They have silicone tabs that prevent slipping. And the elastic band is comfortable. t The electrode interface works gel-free (for me) and the latches are perfect for a polar monitor. And the latch closure is easy to use. work, are not as convenient or comfortable. And none of them seem to last forever. But six months is fine for me.
