Review on HiLetgo DC 8-26V TPA3118 PBTL Mono Digital Audio Amplifier Board πŸ”Š AMP Module 160W for Arduino - Enhance Sound Quality with Powerful Amplification! by David Blackstock

It works, but don't expect 160 watts.

This board is a TI TPA3118 Class D audio chip configured for Parallel Bridged Load (PBTL). See the TPA3118 data sheet for detailed information. I tested the device on a workbench with a 4 ohm load and monitored both output lines with an oscilloscope set to channel differential mode ch1-ch2. The output power at the load before the delimiters corresponds to the input power voltage. TI doesn't give us exactly the information we want, but their graphs show that the total distortion starts to skyrocket at 30W of output power at 12VDC into a 2 ohm load. With 4 ohms I got about 19 watts into 12 volts. The graph shows a power output of 160 watts at a constant voltage of 25 volts, a load of 2 ohms and 10% distortion. I wonder how long before it works? Has the internal thermal shutdown been triggered? I would not increase the output power of this module above 60 watts. TI's evaluation module has the following specifications: TPA3118D2EVM Supply Voltage 4.5V to 26V Number of Channels 2 Bridge Load (BTL) Stereo Load Impedance 3.2Ξ© to 8Ξ© BTL Output Power 30W per channel
