This filter has soft rubber ends, just like OEM Ridgid filters. They appear to seal well and appear to be as durable as the originals. The entire bottom and top of the filter pleats are molded rubber, which is slightly different than the raw edges of Ridgid OEM filters. It seems to have taken a little more effort to attach to my vacuum than the OEM, but that might be my downfall. Performance. In a hurry, I put on a few folds. I don't recall this ever happening with Ridgid filters, so it could be thinner filter pleats, looser fabric, or just a tighter opening. This blue model is three-layered, while the white one in my video is single-layered. The blue 3-layer is said to be better at capturing smaller particles, so I decided to give it a try. I'm not sure how they can offer both at the same price. 3-layer filters are usually more expensive, so I hope they really are 3-layer filters. I didn't cut it open to find out. So, for the same price here, why not always go for the blue 3-layer fabric? Well, if you're working outside on a construction site, the white should pick up all of your sawdust without getting clogged with fine concrete and drywall dust, allowing you to work longer without having to clean it up. However, it's not as good indoors as that fine dust is blown into the room from the exhaust pipe. Like the OEM filters, these filters are said to be waterproof and can be cleaned with a hose sprayer. I've always used a blower first, then tapped it lightly with a hose sprayer before setting it in the sun to dry. I haven't put it under a microscope or done any comparative testing, but it seems to run about 35% less. I am very happy.
