Good but not as good as the original

I bought this remote to replace the original Hunter remote I got about 10 years ago. It looks identical to the original remote control, but there are a few differences. First the battery compartment. The original remote just popped open and picked up the 9 screw battery. The weight of the battery made the old remote feel more comfortable. The new remote (the one sold on this listing) uses a small button battery, resulting in a significant weight reduction. It just seems cheap imo. More importantly, for reasons unknown, they decided to add a small screw that keeps the battery compartment closed, although the mechanism for opening the slider hasn't changed. I'm not a weak, incompetent person, but there was no way to manually loosen that screw to insert the battery (the unit came with a battery, but it wasn't installed when it arrived). I gave it to my contractor who was renovating my bathroom and figured his power tools would do the job. He had so much trouble with it that he suggested drilling out the screw. After taking it home, he finally managed to remove the screw. Seriously, hunting fanatics - tighten the screw slowly. I put the battery in and the cover stayed securely in place for 2 months without that stupid screw. The action of the button on the remote control has changed. The old remote had a subtle "click" that let you know the button was registered. This remote doesn't have a "click" so I'm wondering if it knows I pressed the button. This results in having to watch the fan to see if the speed is increasing or decreasing - a waste of time and inconvenient when using it in the dark, e.g. B. in bed at night. Just reset the click. Finally they changed the bracket that holds the remote control to the wall/light switch. The old one held the remote firmly in place. The new one allows for wide side-to-side rocking - the remote doesn't feel secure in the mount. In short, technically this remote gets the job done. It's just not as good as the old one.
