Review on KZ AS10: High-Resolution 5BA HiFi Stereo Earphone with Noise Cancelling - Black by Aleska Allen

I've played with a number of so-called Chi-Fi products, but my previous experience with KZ was limited to ZS6, which I liked, but was for not suitable for me. The AS10 is much slimmer despite the same size. No sharp edges, just curves. It works well with standard tips too, which I don't mind, they have good isolation, but for longer listening sessions I prefer spinfits. The cable is the only caveat I have to build quality - I wish it was that easy to tangle, but it's probably partly my fault for not being careful enough when rolling. Sound - Coming from the ZS6, which has a distinctly V-shaped signature, the AS10 feels much more balanced. The mid-bass is still boosted and there is a peak somewhere around 5-7 kHz, but the mids don't seem to be pushed back. Overall I really like the setup of this IEM, especially for the price. 5 balanced armature drivers sound harmonious. Vocals are natural, electric guitars sound great. The bass boost makes them ideal for electronic music, rock and many other genres. Guns N' Roses' "Right Next Door to Hell" has a great opening bass riff and the AS10 handles it admirably, fast and clean. Reminds me of a planar bass. Massive Attack's "Angel" is a good test for the bottom, hitting pretty deep but controlled without slush. Amber Rubart's "Hold on" is my favorite vocal track with a great soundstage and acoustic instruments all around you - sounds great, it's right in the middle of the mix, not too far forward and not too far back. Another of my favorite titles that has a whole world to explore is Quizas Quizas Quizas by Pink Martini. I love her voice with all the little details in the background. There's a moment at 0:35-0:37 when her voice hisses when heard in the wrong gear, but the AS10 does it well without any harshness whatsoever. I have the more expensive thing, but that wouldn't be a fare. Overall, I'm impressed with the sound of this IEM. This is a very strong competitor in the price range. I'm excited to see what KZ will do in the future.
