I've always wanted a phone holder but never got one. I had the opportunity to buy this device at a discount in exchange for my honest review, so I jumped at it. I chose to attach the phone holder to the air vent instead of the windshield as it gives better access to the phone. My 2015 Toyota RAV4 has two vertical air vents in the center of the dash on either side of the radio. Since this bracket protrudes from the air vent, installing it on the driver's side was a problem. My right hand taps on it when I keep my hand at 3 o'clock and also when I turn the steering wheel. That's fine when I'm driving on an open freeway and there aren't any problems on the road, but it became a big problem when I had to shake the steering wheel to avoid hitting something on the freeway. It also created a reverse parking problem and required quick wheel adjustments. After the second incident, I removed the mount and no longer use it. I was a little intimidated by the amount of parts in the box, but it turns out there are different parts that can be used if you mount it on the windshield rather than the air vent. To install. After reading the instructions fully before doing anything else, I was able to go through the entire installation process without any issues. Here are some things I love about a phone holder: 1). It has a really solid feature for tightening the side buttons on the device. 2). There are two small feet on the bottom that support the device. Between these two things, there is absolutely no slipping of the phone. 3). It also has a very nice release button that clicks to automatically release the grip. It opens while the button is held and stops when you release it. four). It has a brace on the bottom that prevents the holder itself from hitting the dashboard. Some things about the assembly that I didn't care about: 1). How far does it protrude from the vent into my driving space? 2). It feels a bit flimsy with the mount jerking from side to side (but it looks like my vent works that way, I'm not sure). 3). It was difficult to attach the bracket to the vent, but even more difficult to remove. I had to squeeze my fingers every time and it really hurt. Also, it was so hard to get out that I thought I'd break the ventilation in the process. four). That's a pretty chunky phone mount. Just a lot of plastic and material for a mobile phone holder. Seems like it would make a really good mount if your vents are placed horizontally or somewhere else than mine. It might have worked better on my windshield, but it's my personal choice not to put it there. All in all it seems like a good buy if there is a way to make sure the mount fits your car before you buy it.
