I was having serious speed issues with my 2.4GHz desktop card. I decided to switch to this one for the 5GHz range. Installation was very quick and easy. I skipped the software and just installed the driver and the device worked right away. An external antenna seems to help a bit, although the reception isn't perfect, I have to play with the alignment. Still 4 out of 5 lanes and a solid 135Mbps as stated in the adapter information in Win7. That's more than double the 2.4GHz speed I've gotten so far, so I'm happy with the camper, everything seems more optimistic. Another plus is that it comes with a low profile mount in case someone needs it for an HTPC or small system.
