This pump is hooked up to my garden irrigation system. My water source is a 250 gallon tank and I have a pump mounted on top of the tank. It should suck up about 12 inches of water when the tank is full. It is very difficult to fill it. The suction port is on the left side of the pump at an angle. Spout most of the water flows down the side. Luckily, the drain is at the top, so I found that if I removed the drain hose, I could just refill it by pouring water straight into the outlet. and smooth. It creates a lot of pressure and controls my sprinkler very well. Just don't turn it off unless you want to refill it every time.
