At first I thought after a year of hard work in the kitchen it was starting to rust at the bottom. But it was NOT rust! It was a collection of moldy scum from a year of drying kitchen towels. She came down immediately with steel wool. So I am very satisfied. UPDATE: 2 years later as it was constantly wet moldy substances were deteriorating the finish on the underside and it was downright gross. However, I'm fond of it's small size - it won't sting my eyes while I'm in the sink, so I have a new method of using it that prevents it from getting wet.
