First a comment on another review that the head is not well bonded to the handle. The head isn't glued to the handle at all, and that's on purpose. I can only assume that the reviewer has never made or used a hammer with a tapered tongue and groove design. The handle fits easily in the top of the head, but due to the taper it cannot loosen during use. The more you use it, the stronger the connection will be. But if the handle breaks, or you just want to detach it so the hammer can be stowed in a slightly smaller space, all you have to do is hit the workbench hard with the underside of the hammer handle. The reviewer may have confused the paint drips with glue as the paint appears to have been applied during hammer assembly. It's a perfectly adequate piece of wood on a stick, however, which is what you expect it to be. mallet. I really only have two complaints about him. First, it's a little smaller than I'd like. It's a good size for fine work, but a little small and light for large pieces of furniture or carpentry work. This isn't necessarily an issue depending on the type of work you will be doing and I really should have paid more attention to the sizes listed. If you're looking for something for light work, this is a great hammer. The second problem is the combination of price and design. The grip is not very comfortable with prolonged use, which is certainly quite easy to fix. But I would feel more comfortable shaping and smoothing the grip if the price was a bit lower. Maybe it's just that with the right tools I could make almost the same hammer out of scrap wood in a relatively short amount of time. (I bought this hammer because I don't currently have access to tools or a workshop, but I needed to hammer something.) But it's certainly not a bad hammer. And the price is pretty reasonable, especially if you're just starting out in woodworking and don't know how to cut a tapered slot to make your own hammer. I just wish the handle was a little better so I didn't have to make it myself for the convenience of using a hammer for more than a few hits, or that it was a few bucks cheaper considering the amount of work that went into it, to make him more comfortable.
