Ignore the instructions that came with it. My first attempt to install the driver failed. Installed software, then successfully installed driver. The software was able to load, but did not recognize the camcorder's AV input. Switched to 2.0 USB and it showed up. Note the 3 tabs at the top: Capture, Edit, Produce. Getting started with Capture is pretty easy, just launch the camcorder and the software at the same time. Once you press stop, it won't continue - it's the end of your file. I haven't quite figured out how to use Edit yet, but in production you create a file and burn a CD. Ease of installation. Not easy to use (editing function) but for basic copying and writing it's a good value.
