I just installed it and it took a few seconds. It took a second for it to "click" but that wasn't a problem. Some have reported scratching the tray area during installation. For me it wasn't - it almost felt like you had to work hard to make it happen. It almost looks like it was installed from the factory. I put my iPhone X there in a fully sealed Otterbox Defender case and it started charging straight away - no problem, it doesn't disconnect or move while driving - it's very stable and secure. A bonus feature that I wasn't even aware of when I bought it is an additional USB port on the front right side (next to the passenger side) to connect a cable if needed. This is an added bonus that I wasn't aware of and may be more convenient than using the USB port in the center console. This is a great product and I hope it will last the lifetime of the car.
