Review on Universal Radio Replacement and Steering Wheel Interface - Maestro ADS-MRR Enhanced for SEO by Demetrius Holt

Restrictions on Pioneer head units.

Pioneer make great radios - I've put them in my last 3 cars. However, this is my first time using it with an iDatalink Maestro computer and I would like to mention a few limitations. My setup is SuburbanPioneer 501EXMaestro MRRMaestro GM5+Backup Cam. For some incomprehensible reason, iDatalink requires you to connect your minicomputer to the AUX audio jack (in addition to the data port) on the Pioneer's rear panel. This means you cannot use this port for any other purpose. I called their hotline and the pioneer is sending data to a minicomputer that won't work if left disabled. They say this is a limitation of Pioneer radios. I don't know about you, but I often use the AUX port when I'm on the go. We have a tablet that kids can use to watch movies and connect the headphone jack to the AUX port. We also use it to play audiobooks or music from the tablet, leaving our phones free to navigate or make calls. Since the AUX connection is no longer available, I ordered a flush-mounted USB/AUX combo on cinch on the back of the radio. It just arrived today so haven't had time to add it to the setup yet, but I hope this brings us back the AUX port. If not, I'll never use iDatalink again - despite the subtleties, there's a lot on offer - and I'll lower my rating to 3 stars.
