Fenders on the Y model are a must to prevent damage to the paintwork on the underside of the rear door from the front wheels throwing up dirt, especially at motorway speeds. I originally had a set of fenders from a Tesla aftermarket company that only makes products for Tesla. The driver's front fender broke when a tire splinter hit him at highway speed. .This fender kit is EXACTLY the same as Tesla Aftermarket Company's kit at 1/3 the price. The shape and feel of the guard was identical to the more expensive set.
