Ad description is misleading, UPDATED REVIEW

I was looking for a filtration system to reduce TDS while improving taste by removing chemicals from tap water. APEX MR-2050 seemed to meet my needs. However, when I tested the water, the TDS was very close to tap water. 287 filtered, 326 draft. I called APEX and spoke at length with their representative. He explained to me that their filter actually adds caustic to the water and increases the TDS. In their AD description they mention bottled water several times and reduce the use of plastic bottles as this filter seems to duplicate bottled water what I was looking for. After testing their filter and getting pretty bad results, I needed some clarification. They send me another filter cartridge without alkali balls. Let's see if he can do the job. Otherwise, I was told I would have to purchase and install a five-stage reverse osmosis filtration system that requires the filter to be replaced twice a year, which costs about $100 a year. It's actually cheaper to just buy bottled water and recycle the plastic. Very good customer service. FYI, reverse osmosis is the best way to get quality bottled water to drink at home. While I was confident that this filter would do just that, APEX helped me understand what TDS is and how unreliable it is in determining actual water quality. I recommend APEX to anyone looking for a quality filtration system and great customer service.
