Review on WEN VJT404 Universal Soft Grip Magnetic: The Ultimate Solution for Easy, Secure Tool Use by Jason Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best price on Revain as if he wrote it, tons of usefulness and a surprisingly good end product!

TLDR on the bottom. Crazy old man review below. Not sure what "sharpness" is in relation to a low profile vise. but they are short enough and offer excellent value for a low profile 4" (101.6mm) vise. Arrived with too much tension but otherwise worked flawlessly out of the box! I ended up taking apart a few minor points like the jaws, then cleaning and oiling everything I could get my hands on without taking it completely apart. It now slides smoothly and bites into my aluminum blanks without distorting corners (unlike the competitor's vise, I had to buy 2 when this one was out of stock and these are bluffs). I paid almost twenty dollars for it. my first wen and I'll be paying less than fifteen for another in a few seconds. and returning two other "similar" products, made with far less care than I expected, at a cost of ten dollars more than this Wen Vise. This Wen had (almost) all the right hardware, and it didn't look like it was built by a amateur like the competitor. Van also has an open mounting notch on both sides, right between the mounting slots. others have nothing. It may sound trivial, but these little extra mounting slots allow for a lot more use in my shop, while the others I'm returning are basically useless for my various Wen Shop tools. Not only does the Wen vise fit my 8" 5 speed Wen drill press, but I can fit two of these to my 10" Wen 15 amp miter saw instead of a badly deformed fence and useless clamps must be used that came with this saw. Essentially two of these become a fence/clamp system and even allow me to downsize the saw blades as my work is raised 1.25 inches from the original saw table. . First I cut 6061 aluminum from .125" thick bar to 1.5" thick bar, as well as 6063 t groove extrusion profiles, aluminum spacer tubes, etc. Basically a material that requires special blades, lubrication, good clamps and a floor saw. RPM that my wen saw too high. As long as I'm not cutting anything too thick (e.g. 1" x 2.5" rod) and not using bevel cuts/bevels, I could easily find a smaller blade that spins at a lower RPM than a 10" blade rotates efficiently. . Smaller paddles are often rated for higher RPM than 10 inch paddles, AND they're cheaper, AAAA, AND many times more common. This allows me to get good results even with a smaller saw blade than my saw normally uses. big win. Their clamping force is also enough to hold a thick bar that has been abused by a saber saw without ever letting up the vibration, even when I put my hand down and rattle a bit. TLDR; Great quality, better than those twice the price. Improves the performance of several Wen plumbing tools, including the mm1011 miter saw. Be prepared for minimal presetting/cleaning/smearing and enjoy for years to come (probably not made from colored cheese, I'm pretty sure).
