Review on πŸ”§ Astro Pneumatic Tool Silicone Adhesive AST 405 by Justin Pavelko

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I hate hunting almost as much as I hate grinding.

I hate chisels almost as much as I hate grinding, but this tool makes chisels a lot easier. It's a pretty good tool, but I can't get 5 stars for it. I just sealed windows and doors with outdoor silicone. The tool works well and is a lot easier for my old hands to smear than with a manual ratchet model. I wish I had had one like this years ago. I used 15-20psi and everything worked fine (this info is from another review here at Revain). As long as the trigger is pulled, the sealant will come out in a reasonable amount. When you release the trigger the sealant stops, although I dripped a bit (not what you get with a manual ratchet). The device looks good and I expect a long service life. IMHO the price is right. It's nice that it works with standard 11oz tubes. (It's come to my attention that some sealant manufacturers are producing and now selling 10.1 ounce tubes of sealant in tubes of the same size to increase their bottom line without informing the consumer.) Here's what I didn't like. 1) the trigger is quite small and sometimes inconvenient to use; 2) there were no instructions for use, no (and I didn't find them on Astro's website); 3) The pistol grip grip is very slick/slippery (I used white spirit to clean the latex glue while working and the grip was very slippery) making it difficult to hold and control; 4) When I got to the end of the tube, it worked worse (the flow seemed much slower than when the tube was fuller). I would recommend this to anyone who hunts a lot and already owns a supercharger. I don't think I would recommend it to a professional,
