My parrots don't like Zupreem - they eat it! On my vet's recommendation, I switched my birds (parrots) from a seed diet to Zupreem; it is healthier for them as the seeds contain a lot of fat which is difficult for their small liver to digest. Some small birds can develop life threatening xanthomas from seed, as was the case with my one parrot, which is why this product drew my attention. Parrots can be extremely difficult to transition to a seedless diet; In fact, as I went through the process, I began to believe that it was impossible. Suggestion: After almost giving up transforming my birds (a sick person's life depended on it!), I decided to make a "bird smoothie" to help with this process. I added some zupreem and fruit juice to the blender and made a baby food consistency slurry. I made enough for a couple of days - I refrigerate the excess. I spread the porridge on a saucer and put ordinary bird seeds in it. So the birds were left with no choice but to sort the mixture, and so they developed a taste for and appreciation of the zupreem porridge as food. I repeated this process for several days, every day reducing the amount of seeds, replacing them with dry ones. Zuprim pellets. After 4-5 days I fed my birds 100% Zupreem with some fruit juice. Finally on day 5 I switched to 100% dry Zupreem and my birds loved it! They love it and my previously ill parrot is not only 100% healthy again - it's the healthiest I've ever seen! Also note: If you have regular-sized parrots, get an X-Small-sized bird; Parrots don't like bigger pellets - trust me! FYI: If you wet Zupreem as described, it will die in about 4 hours. Please remember to replace with fresh ones - prepare the prepared slurry in the refrigerator. It took me a few days.
