Very glad they earned out of the box. On the Wii or GameCube, the receivers work as soon as you connect them to the system. For Switch or Wii U, both USB ports of the GameCube adapter must be connected to the system to draw enough current to run them. I didn't have any connection problems. I turned on one, then the other, and they connected as expected. Myself. My only gripe is the super-stiff Z button. The black remote had the typically tight button that's easy to carry. However, the purple remote seems stuck, as it takes a little excessive pressure to trigger the right end of the Z button while holding the left side of the Z button. The rest of the controllers work great!
