I have the Medela Symphony and the 19mm shield was the correct size. The shield and connector itself is one piece.I kinda liked and disliked that part; to pump it's very easy to assemble but to wash & dry it's a little bit more work. Also, if you plan to use a hands-free pumping bra it might not work because of the one piece shield.On a side note, it really does make a difference using the correct size shield. I was using the 24mm shield my pump came with and it didn't hurt but there was a noticeable difference in using the correct size I should have been using. It's more comfortable and I feel like I pump more milk than I did before. My lactation consultants never once brought up shield sizes, I figured it out on my own.
