Wow. It's so effective and easy to use and reuse. Ensures gas exchange and protects against pollution. I modify them for my needs. I use a paper punch and punch a hole in the middle. Fill the hole with RTV Red High Temperature Sealant to make the hole self-sealing. Wax paper does not stick when drying. Pressure can sterilize my mushroom mycelium solution in 15 minutes max at 15 pounds of pressure otherwise the sugar will burn and the mycelium will not grow. Let cool down. Then wipe the port with alcohol and use a syringe to inject into the port. You can also shorten them. Hold the lid of the small cereal jar by the soft side so it doesn't slip off when you cut off the lid with scissors. The picture shows what 2cc mycelium looks like from a 10cc syringe injected into a sterilized solution after about 2 weeks. The growth increases significantly with the exchange of air. Use it on a jar of pasta sauce. I use 1 1/2 tablespoons of corn syrup and 1/2 tablespoon of molasses per 1/2 gallon of water. Also suitable for the production of reusable agar culture glasses.
