Fantastic sound. The mechanics of the system are inferior to previous models. I have had a Bose music system for many (20) years - previous models had a hinged cover that makes it easy to remove or adjust a drive that is not working properly. On a new system, you insert a disc and you can't get to the area where the disc is. This new device rejects all non-standard discs. So if the disc is a bit thick, it won't play. I put in a new La Boheme CD and the CD immediately got stuck in the player. In the last 6 months CDs have gotten stuck frequently and I have to cycle power, reset and sometimes carefully insert something into the slot to try to free the CD. Every CD must be inserted into the block with the utmost care lest it fail. It was really frustrating to deal with and the unit was 500. I know this machine is going to fail and it's only a matter of time. The sound is amazing, but the earlier design is much friendlier and more successful. Sure, it's great to have a touchpad for turning on and off, but at the expense of the actual device that's playing? No way! I would prefer an old design that works reliably. Another example of trying to make something attractive but not really working. A delightful apple that becomes soft and mealy when you bite into it. I'm a big disappointment. Next time I will take another device if there is a competitor.
