Review on 📦 Vantec HDA-525P 3.5-Inch to 5.25-Inch Front Bay Converter Kit: Enhanced Storage Expansion Solution by Carta Gutierrez

This is for a regular 5.25 inch plastic sled. I bought this sled from Vantec because it's a little different than the 'other' that is so common. Clips/brackets on the outside edges that can accept USB plugs with some cutouts to hold the cable - and they sell a similar unit with it already installed. My goal was to add a 3.5" card reader to this bay and then modify the USB Type-C connector (from the motherboard socket) to one side. It wasn't easy or quick, but I did it well and it works. Choosing a Type-C cable type can make things easier or more difficult, but either way it's not that easy because this sled is designed for regular Type-A connectors and the plastic is decent but not that difficult to crack - when removing the front panel easier access with tools, two pins broken but surprisingly reassembled well. The quick release shafts in my case work with these slides, but they are cumbersome to insert and difficult to remove, requiring manual manipulation of the gripping elements as they snap into additional screw access holes on the side of the slide. Overall a good product, can't complain and it has various features.
