These strips confirmed my suspicions. I bought a 3 year old BMW 3 years ago. The brake fluid warning light has been on for 9 months now, and last year the car overheated with the light on. I finally watched the video to get to the brake reservoir and found it to be 100% full and clean. I suspected that this 60,000 6 year old car was still clean and might not justify the $255 dealer price for a brake fluid change. After reviewing the moisture test strips and adding them to the shopping cart, this copper test pop-up caught my attention. I read the technical rationale and it made sense to me as an engineer. I found these dual purpose strips while looking for the best price and was happy to check the condition of my coolant as well. Both systems are sealed against external contamination so I figured if they haven't deteriorated and are doing their job almost like new then why spend the money to pour back almost the same quality of liquid and also allow for a student's error risk who will this cause problems I didn't have? I had a simple oil change not long ago which I always go to and when I got there the cabin smelled of fire and I saw smoke coming out of the hood. I came back and they said oh sorry Type X spilled some oil on the engine. I looked and saw a new guy - I'm lucky, my car's engine has new dirt built up now as the dirt is sticking to the new oil coating. So I give this product 5 stars as it gives me peace of mind that my brake fluid and coolant are still in perfect condition and I don't have to risk one of the trainees making a mistake which will cost me a lot more in the long term. I bought this BMW from the dealer with 2 more years of warranty and was driving 200ft down the road and noticed the check engine light was on. I literally used the car for 1 minute and had to take it to service and come back the next day to collect it. Should we really believe that there are no idiots working on our machines? A year ago the car had a slight warning that it needed an MOT so I asked how much it cost and they said $700. I thought no way, every month I bring the car in here for something under warranty and you should have noticed by now. Then when the coolant light came on and the A/C stopped I found the coolant level was incredibly low - I was so frustrated after 10 visits to the dealership for one reason or another that they never checked the coolant and kindly refilled it. They wash your car, give you coffee and donuts, but never look at the obvious - the goal is clearly that you return the car as often as possible.
