Can I marry him?: Vacuum cleaner and floor care

I really, really, really hate vacuuming. I'm putting it off until there are some dogs under the bed. It's getting embarrassing to invite people over. And unfortunately I have tile floors with two entrance mats. Our ground floor is 864 square meters. Foot is not large enough to be suctioned. So in 2008 I decided to invest in an $800 Miele Callisto canister vacuum. Thinking it would solve all my problems, I used it around the house and on the stairs. Even though I only have to plug it in once to vacuum the first floor, I still hated vacuuming. Stick vacuums have finally arrived and I borrowed the Shark Duo. I turned down the $300 but loved the opportunity to pick up and leave. They didn't sell me without a bag either, it seems like you're just scattering dust by throwing it away. I went back to my vacuum cleaner dealer and asked about Miele vacuum cleaners. Holy cows, they're expensive. And I wouldn't buy it for anything. But then I thought what if I vacuumed once a week. It pays for itself in just 3-4 years knowing I have clean floors. So a local gives me $50 off a HEPA-free floorstanding model. This is a Stormtrooper model. I take it home and vacuum the first floor, both stairwells, the attic and part of the basement. Now I have to vacuum several times a day. I have a vacuum fetish, probably unhealthy, but it exists. I look at my older cousin and I'm like, no, I don't use that. So here are my PROs/Cons: PROS: Much easier than lugging around a canister No extension to get in the way Gets into corners better than the Miele Callisto Fairly easy to empty Doesn't smell to my dog like the Callisto when the bag is over half full (even with HEPA) Makes wooden stairs with the standard nozzle Automatically switches from carpet to tile floors, which is cool Works great at cleaning my spear-like Jack Russell hair, fine dust particles and tiny rocks that I stupidly left outside the door as a passageway throughout easy to clean filters - faucet clean and vacuum (well I have to use an $800 vacuum for something!) pretty easy to hand wash dust box hanger/holder/charger easy to assemble and holds 2 accessories working well isn't a problem . All Miele vacuums use the same battery, unlike the Shark which has around a million batteries, potentially making your vacuum an orphan in the future. /off by the tongue and groove method is a German genius that will most likely fail in the future, just ask my Miele Callisto and every time the head falls off the canister it's difficult to get the long hair out of the canister to get, a bit hard but not too bad a cost, yes (just for reference, I'm pretty cheap) Not the easiest way to attach a hanging mount/charger. Plugging the vacuum straight into the charger shocked me a few times so I'm using the mount/charger now. I'd like to marry him (although maybe that's a plus for my husband?) I've attached my newlywed photos, properly positioned next to the front door mat :)

Pros
  • Vacuum cleaner and floor care
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
