Review on Noctua NH-D15S chromax.Black: Premium Dual-Tower CPU Cooler with NF-A15 PWM 140mm Fan - Black by Jennifer Ford

Premium air cooling that looks as good as it cools

Honestly it's too early to write this review but this is Noctua and we all know what they do, probably the best solutions for air cooling It looks classy, professional and, due to its size, draws everyone's attention. Even the packaging was A+. Idle at 35C just now after install which was a drop of 4C from Scythe Mugen 5 with 2 fans at 3800x. Used Kryonaut for both coolers. You'll have to experiment with this to see the temperature difference under load and in games. Will update this review in a few weeks. This cooler is great for medium tower setups like mine where the biggest coolers like the D15 are too big. When using the 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, there was no gap to the main memory. It interfered with the 120mm GPU heatsink. I was lucky and was able to fix it, but not in the holes provided in the case. Do yourself a favor and make sure it fits before you buy. The installation process is quite simple, but some installations may encounter installation issues. I recommend taking the mobo out to install this cooler to make it easier and less likely to scratch/hit other components, but it's not necessary. / in general compared to Scythe Mugen 5. What surprised me is that the fan installed on the D15S cooler (or any additional fan) must be in a push configuration. In a pull configuration, the fans produce a slight but very noticeable hum/vibration. For those wondering, the thin 120mm A12 fits in front of the cooler and doesn't get in the way of the RAM/cooler/chassis.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
