I love this bird feeder but due to an issue I had I can only give it 2-3 stars. I placed the fat in green holders on either side of the house. Coming home from work one day I found a slightly fatter sparrow stuck upside down in the mount, its head in one of the square holes/holes. Some of the fat was already eaten so the poor bird had enough room to fly in as it's open at the top. Luckily she was still breathing, although she was very traumatized. I managed to get her out with some effort, and although her wing was damaged, she managed to fly away (mainly because she was scared). When this happened I removed both grease holders from the birdhouse and now it's just open on both sides. (No green holders.) If you decide to buy this feeder, please be very careful. I will never buy houses with open topped grease bins again as this can result in bird entrapment.
