Review on Honiture Q5 Self-Charging CarpetsFloor Cleaner by Michael Radhakrishnan

Excellent carpet vacuuming

Since I bought the robot, the vacuum cycle has only been run twice. The first ran on hardwood and the second in a single room on carpet. The carpet cycling was the most impressive as I saw it zigzagging almost constantly. I can also see passages in the carpet as if it were a regular vacuum cleaner. What was a pleasant surprise was that it picked up the powder deodorant residue that my regular vacuum missed after vacuuming several times. It was a bit difficult to make a zig zag pattern on hardwood, probably because it's such a large open area with so many things to trip over that it was difficult to identify the edges to make a zig zag out of it. In a small area like the kitchen, it went better if I covered a hole with a magnetic strip. He managed to escape through another hole and for that reason I wish there was more than one magnetic stripe. I also noticed that he has a hard time finding his home at a great distance from the charging station, especially when the battery is still charged. I didn't fully charge the battery when I did the bedroom. It was great to see him walking under inconspicuous furniture. I think the carpet under the bed and the floors under the sofas and sideboards were the cleanest. I used to have to reach for those with a swiffer rag just to dust it off and forget about the under bed area until you finally get the bed out of there. I have yet to try the mopping feature, but my expectations for bots in general are that they will never be as good as the cleaning crew. The remote's functions do exactly what they say, so I'd expect the mopping function to be good for touch-up mopping, rather than thoroughly scrubbing floors covered in dirt and grime. All in all a good buy for the price.
