The meter has a solid construction, which means it fits your hand snugly and won't bend, bend, or make any stress noise during use. It won't do any of this if you intentionally try to bend or twist it. The probe cover fits snugly and snugly and snaps on well. It doesn't fall into a bag or drawer somewhere. There is a screw on the battery cover that holds the batteries in place so they don't rattle or fall out if you drop the meter. The screen is bright and clear, making settings and meter readings easy to see. It's very easy to use. The instructions are well written and clear and include a table showing what adjustments are needed for each type of wood. I was impressed that the diagram splits the wood in two ways; The first way is the common name, and the second is the botanical name, where you can find subspecies of different trees. This way it's easy to find the species of wood you're testing if you don't want to be too specific, but you can be more careful if you want to. It works great. It's simple and just does the job.
