We had a cheap wooden grinder that we used to grind crumbled pink Himalayan sea salt. Aside from not being very durable, it collected salt on the bottom of the closet we kept it in and was difficult to fill. This is a major improvement. The glass jar is durable, easy to fill and makes it easy to see how much is left. The latter appears to be much stronger, but only time will tell if it can withstand regular use. It takes a bit of tweaking to get the exact grind I want and I haven't tried cleaning the gears yet but it seems to be working fine. I like having a snap on lid so the salt doesn't spill out when I remove it.
