Harder to use but definitely better potholders

We made potholders at home and always seemed to lose the colors we wanted, so we ordered replacements from various sources. to see what works best. While not the easiest to use, they are by far the best end product. This is a large bag with bows in very light colors. The colors are gorgeous - turquoise, cobalt, lime green, kelly green, pink, red, reddish purple, yellow, orange - enough to make some pretty combinations. Compared to other loops we've used, these are very thick and less stretchy. Because they are bulkier, they are a bit more difficult to manage. But I didn't find the wrong ones. The finished pot holder is larger and more dimensionally stable. I've found that the stretchier brands seem to have a high nylon content and don't seem to hold hot food as well. These loops are a little frayed with loose threads hanging from them, but if you weave them together, loose threads aren't really a problem. Someone noticed that their daughter couldn't weave the edges with them because they are elastic. My daughter wasn't able to weave the edges with it either, but she is very, very proud of the finished product as it is larger, lighter and more evenly shaped than elastic loop potholders. If you want something really easy to use, you might want to check out the loops by Klutz or others, as they might not be the best choice. However, if you want to make cool potholders, this is a good choice. UPDATE: I came back a year later to buy more. I'm glad I was able to find good loops again. And now that my daughter is 8 years old, she no longer has problems with selvedges - most of the time. Also, they are much easier to weave around the edges if you use a metal loom instead of a plastic loom. UPDATE #2: Almost two years later, my daughter is making potholders again, this time trying to create her own designs. More loops needed!
