Review on Kohree Ceiling Interior Lighting 4000 4500K by Mark Gardner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very happy with the new headlights

I always thought our camper van's factory bulbs were too weak. Last year I tried a couple of Revain replacement bulbs (XCSOURCE 10PCS Warm White 1156 BA15S / 1141/1073 / 1095 Base 18 SMD 5050 LED) but didn't see any improvement - in fact they are a bit dimmer. I still needed more light and decided to try these. Received the lights and they were well packaged in a bundle but well protected from damage and wear and tear. Installation was easy - you simply removed the old headlights, cut the wires, removed the ends and used the connectors provided to connect the new headlights. Polarity doesn't matter, so just plug in any wire. The old screw holes didn't line up and the old screws were too big for the new bracket so I just used the screws that came with it to make the new holes. All the old holes were hidden under the new hardware so the installation was clean. It's time to turn them on. The first thing we noticed is that they are bright. Very bright! Second, the light is definitely whiter than the old incandescent bulbs. The info said they were between 4000-4500K, but in my opinion they're probably closer to 5000-5500K. Not bad, but it's definitely a variation on the yellowish 1141 bulbs (from 2000-2500K?). So how bright? Using an app on my phone to measure LUX, I got the following results: Old twin bulb (1141) with both on = 30 LUX. New fixture with ONE light matrix on = 98 lux. New fixture with BOTH sides on = 203 lux. So yes, much more light. We believe that for our use, turning on only one side of the light provides a comfortable amount of light for normal use. But fine, if I'm working on something or we're loading up the RV for a hike, I can just flip the switch either way and I'll have enough light to get the job done. The exception is the bathroom. We like bright lights there and always leave both sides on. One more thing, as some others have pointed out, they produce an unusual color pattern. I've seen this with other LED matrix lights, including the replacement bulbs mentioned above. When the light hits a solid white or light-colored surface (e.g. a leaf), it gives the appearance of discolored or dirty areas. I understand how this can be distracting for some. But in our case, the lamps are installed in the living room and bathroom, where there are no solid light surfaces, and the color pattern is completely obscured. So no problem for us. So basically we are satisfied. Of course, I wish they were a little closer to the yellow side of the Kelvin scale, but we can live with that. After all, love is proper light.
