Review on AT2020 Foam Windscreen Vocalbeat Microphone by Jenny Cordero

First, the packaging was poor. I have a feeling if you are paying $13 for a foam pop filter it should be better packaged. As a result, a few deep dents formed on my foam. It wasn't a big deal because it wasn't ripped or torn anywhere, just worth mentioning. My main issue is that the foam has a slightly negative effect on the sound quality of the microphone and I'm very picky about my sound. So without the pop filter, my at2020 audio tech shuts itself off completely if a word contains the letter "r", it can't handle explosives at all. My dual layer nylon pop filter almost completely eliminates those harsh noises and keeps the sound exactly as I set it with no change in sound quality. However, it's annoying to set up and intrusive when it's in front of my face, and I wanted something less intrusive and easier to use. I chose this particular foam because people said it didn't deaden the sound. I wouldn't say it dampened the sound, but I use a lot of EQ on my mic and it dampened the highs fairly well and didn't add much bass. Things didn't go so well with explosives. Don't get me wrong, this is way better than no pop filter at all because it's useless without it, but the "r" sounds were too punchy anyway. Unfortunately it changed my sound too much for my liking and didn't do its job as a pop filter well enough to replace my 2 layer nylon pop filter. However, if you don't have a pop filter and have never used one, this will change your life. Don't worry if you have nylon because if you're super picky about your sound like I am, you'll notice the difference. It still sounds good and blocks pops well, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. This is just a downer for me, but potentially a big update for you depending on your current setup.
