Roomba has been with us for 9 years. And it worked great until we had both a dog and a cat that shed their skins as if they were having a competition to leave more tumblewees around the house. Then Roomba just couldn't keep up because the main brush filled up with pet hair within minutes of every start. We figured it wouldn't hurt to buy this robot (considering the price) to try it out. On the plus side, it doesn't have a large fan brush so it doesn't get tangled, but it just doesn't pick up much on the carpets around the house. We have a low pile rug (not commercially flat) and it doesn't even seem to have anything to do with pet hair. Slightly better on hardwood. The suction area is actually very small, only 2-3 inches wide. So if he doesn't ride directly on animal hair, he won't reach it. The two brushes on each side don't move across the carpet fast enough to pull the hair in. So. In short, for anything but perhaps the flattest commercial carpet or hard surfaces, I'd probably skip it.
