These filters suck. I bought three packs and all three broke within a few weeks of use. The gap is where the parts of the filter meet. I bought these to replace a 3M filter system. The 3M filter lasted 5 years (yes I know they need to be changed sooner but I haven't changed and yet the 3M filter has never let me down). Stop at the 3M filter. It's not worth flooding the kitchen three times to save $10-$15 on filter cartridges.
