This is my first sous vide cooking appliance. I was thrilled when I got the 1000W unit for less than $80. I had no problems connecting to the app. And the app is very easy to use and there are presets based on the type of protein you want to cook. I'm not sure how to make the device or app more user friendly. I only used it to reheat already cooked food. I have to say that the dishes that were reheated were better than when they were fresh. If you don't want to spend almost $200 on a device, I think this is a safe option. I am very satisfied with the device and would buy it again at any time
