This is my first detailed product review. There is very little incentive on the part of the manufacturer to write an honest review, which isn't even enough to give me the time to write this review. I wrote this because I love the product. I paid just under $35 for it in September 2020. I bought this AGPTEK A19X MP3 player to replace a broken 5th generation iPod Nano (aka Stubby) and a 7th generation iPod Nano which I accidentally fatally damaged. My primary use case for this product is listening to spoken language (podcasts and audiobooks). I'm a music lover and I use much better and cheaper Fiio players to listen to music. Pros: - Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised by the build quality, software interface, and reliability. - This player seems to be very strong and durable. - It is very pocket friendly - The controls and menu system are intuitive. I didn't even read the manual that came with it. - Value for money is good, especially for listening to podcasts and audio books. - I haven't heard any file types other than mp3. - Battery life seems great, but I haven't played it long enough to drain the battery. - Sound quality is good but not as balanced as the much more expensive iPods and Nanos I've had over the years. However, the sound of a spoken voice is easier to hear and understand in noisy environments due to its vivid tone. There seems to be a lack of bass and the emphasis is on mids and highs. Disclaimer: I've only listened with inexpensive MEE headphones which may have improper impedance for this player. I haven't tried the headphones that came with this player. They connect easily to my portable bluetooth speaker. I haven't tried connecting it to my car's BT system yet. Cons: - Different audio equalizer settings don't seem to change the sound much, if at all. - The repeat setting seems to only affect the current file and not the global setting. It's troublesome to keep changing it for every playable file. General comments: I wish the resume function was automatic and not through the menu. Generally I want the file to start playing where I left off. If I want to start over, I prefer to use the back button to jump to the beginning of the file. I'd rather have global settings in addition to per-file settings. correspond to the sound quality of significantly more expensive competitors. Doesn't sound as good as more expensive devices, at least with the headphones I use. But for my purposes it is not necessary. Otherwise, however, it exceeds my expectations for a $35 player. It's well built, still reliable and easy to use. Most people use their expensive smartphones to listen to music etc. but I prefer a dedicated, small device with lots of features designed for the listener.
