Preparation and slowness produce great results

Most of these have been well covered by other reviewers, but I'll add a few tips/thoughts based on my experience with this product. I bought to cover termite damage to exposed rafters. Follow the directions and remove any loose materials and return to the wood if there is paint. This is the hardest part of the job. After applying paint to liquid wood (use a disposable wood chip brush), allow it to become tacky. Mix small amounts of epoxy on a piece of plastic tape taped flat to the board to prevent it from sticking to the mixing board. I've had good luck kneading with fingers in disposable gloves to get a good mix between the a/b parts. I was surprised at how far the little canisters go. more than i expected. It's easy to blend more when needed (vs. throwing away if you blend too much) and has a decent run time. Press the mixed epoxy into the crevices with your fingers. Then use a hard spatula dipped in alcohol to flatten and shape it. If it's deep or wide you may need to fill in the lifters by letting the first rough coat dry and then adding a final coat. Using rubbing alcohol on the knife really helped blend it into the adjacent wood and made the final sanding minimal work. All in all a great product with great results. Looks like new after painting. It's a lot more expensive than Bondo but should offer a longer lifespan.
