I've spent hours researching different pet backpacks to find the right one for our kitty. We want her to be an indoor cat but with an adventurous side. When we walk our dogs, we want the cat to walk with them too. I chose this device for its durability, ease of use and price. There are a lot! Padding on the lower back and shoulders makes it more comfortable to carry along with the chest and waist straps. I still have to get used to it because of a back injury. I wouldn't wear it for long hikes, but it's perfect for family walks with the dog! The cat loves it too! As soon as I opened it up and set it up, she immediately started researching. She walked in, lay down and let us know that she felt comfortable and safe. We have already taken a few walks and for part of the walk she is content to ride in a backpack but we use a leash and harness to take her the other part of our walk. It's easy to undo the top and hold her by the hook so she can't jump out and hurt herself. You can also wear this on the front if you like. It's not exactly made for that, but it's not too inconvenient. Although we have not personally tried any other backpacks, we are very satisfied with this one!
