Review on 3M Headlight Restoration System 2 Pack by Dave Knain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Always keep them on the shelf, use this set yearly and get great results every time.

I bought my first 3m headlight cleaning kit a long time ago (many years) and every time with great success. The kit lasted me the whole time until I overused it so I needed a replacement. I polish our car headlights once a year and our cars (12-15 years old) look like they have new headlights every year. I've parked next to newer cars at work with fogged up headlights and my co-workers have been asking me how I keep my looks, so here we go. :) Tips. Follow the instructions and recommend using sandpaper first to sand down the big scratches. I did it the first time but found that unless you have big deep scratches you don't need it. I start with polishing paste (I buy it in a bottle) and also apply a sponge and smear around the headlight. Then run the sponge over the drill at low speed for a few minutes, blocking the light. I pause and let the polish dry until almost dry, then run the drill again at medium speed (without scraping the polish off the sponge) for a few minutes until I've finished the entire surface. the whole lens"grinds" it. Then I wipe off the polish and see if I need to do it again. If it's still cloudy I do it again with polishing paste (polishing paste is coarser grit and more aggressive). After that, I keep the drill attachment and sponge assembled in the original packaging.
