Review on πŸ” High Sensitivity Portable Digital Milligram Pocket Scale - 200 x 0.001g for Jewelry, Reloading, Weighing Powders with Calibration Weights (Black) by Lisa Pettway

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent accuracy, excellent repeatability even on light objects.

In October 2018 I purchased TWO identical 100g 8028 series scales. Both items arrived on time with all accessories listed including two AAA batteries, plastic tweezers, powder/liquid cup, 100g -Weight I chose the 100g scale model so that very small items and some postal packages can be checked. The 50g model seemed less attractive to me, even if it could handle the smallest objects better. May be. These scales look very sleek and professional and look as good or better than some of the scientific instruments I buy at work. Considering the price, I can't believe it's as accurate as advertised. I decided to test the accuracy and compare both scales after a week at typical room temperature and 50% humidity. I test both scales with a very light weight where the scale doesn't usually work. Both scales stand next to each other on a flat glass table surface. Small non-slip pads work well. I use two small pieces of paper as weights, turn on both scales at the same time. Calibrate both scales to 100,000g with the same 100g weight, start measuring both sheets, always placing them as close to the center as possible. I swap the measured objects between both scales while taking notes to include any warm-up effects of the scale switching. I do this slowly, waiting about 5 seconds each time, hoping to catch a change or fluctuation in the readings. Here is what I got, the final reading of each: SCALE A. SCALE B 0.013g 0.013g 0.014g 0.014g 0.013g 0.013g 0.013g 0.013g ---------------- - - ----- 0.091g 0.090g 0.091g 0.091g 0.090g 0.091g0. 091g 0.090g 0.090g 0.091g ---------------------- 0.013g 0.013g In all measurements there was no fluctuation in readings, no noise when reading the last Digit , no change in reading except in some cases where the final reading after 5 seconds was 0.001 g higher than the first, immediate, instantaneous reading. The numbers above really show repeatability, not precision - still a great product. LOWEST WEIGHT that can be detected. I took a small piece of Kleenex paper napkin. The balance showed 0.013 g. I divided it into two parts, the scale initially showed 0.005g and 0.007g, but I couldn't repeat it. Most of the time 0.005 g seemed undetectable, the scale showed 0.000 g. A similar test using a tiny piece taken from a small transparent packaging bag gave a result of -0.003g. I realized that some tiny static forces are affecting readings below 0.010g. Suddenly, 0.013 g of paper is recognized very reliably! All this with a full range of 100,000g. Unbelievable! The DISPLAY is quite large, good and easy to read in a bright room. Do these scales draw a lot of electricity? I'm trying to figure out how to verify this as I have a lot of devices at home that I feel are draining their batteries too quickly. The current consumption for this scale, measured immediately after switching on, was 8.2 mA. With a typical AAA battery capacity (Google "AAA battery capacity") of 1000 mAh, the battery life seems to be around 120 hours. I was expecting a little less power draw, but that's not bad at all, especially considering the battery isn't a 9 volt battery. Interestingly, the market is flooded with rechargeable batteries and the scale's user manual does not state whether rechargeable batteries can be used. I don't think that's a big deal considering most rechargeable batteries don't last very long. AUTO-OFF feature: When I started calibrating both scales, one scale turned itself off after about 30 seconds. The other never did in all tests. I assumed the scale would turn itself off after 30 seconds if no activity was detected, otherwise it continues to work. Overall I'm thrilled, I never thought I could have such a sensitive scale for less than $25. Five stars!
