I've been using it for 3 months, it needs cleaning. Our bird is a rescue bird, the red-eyed bulbul. I didn't know if she would use it but now she sleeps in it every night and it keeps her warm in cold weather. She poops on the outside when she sits on top, but instinctively keeps the inside clean and poop-free. I'm not sure how we're going to wash it. Maybe scrape off the dried poop (wicked) and then toss it in the wash on a gentle cycle and see if it's durable enough to last. I don't want to hand wash. Costs money. I'll buy more if needed.
