Waterproof or water-repellent

Learned the difference the hard way. Put a cover on the VW convertible because the top needs repair. The left side windows can be opened a centimeter for ventilation. It was raining heavily and the interior of the car got wet. Water repellent for an easy shower! Make sure it's WATERPROOF.
