I noticed a difference right away. I had no problems with the flash at all. I put it on so that the zipper is down at the front, so there is no pressure on it. I tried tape along the zipper line when I first bought it (as people recommended) but the tape didn't stick. This is a very good sign as it means it is slippery enough that the insects cannot crawl on that surface. I had absolutely no problems except that the sheets are difficult to hold and we need to "sleep tight" without anything to crawl on touching the floor. I've had good luck with flannel or fleece and then a sheet over it (these materials seem to stay in place and I use my sofa to sleep on). I'm so glad a product like this was invented and mine will be around for at least a year. It was such a fantastic help. I also use the Bedlam spray which my friend says the pros used at his apartment and it's amazing. I also sprinkle diatomaceous earth over the edges of the floor. In such a situation, do whatever you think will help. They are totally under control and I will remain vigilant throughout the year.
