We bought this pump because our basement is below the water table and water is constantly flowing into it. Our original sump broke and there was about 3 feet of water inside. several hours. I went to work so I had to ask my girlfriend to install everything we bought. She was able to install and run it (cdu1000) in just 15 minutes out of the box. He put out the water in about 5 minutes. This pump is legal. I would say it turns on for about 60-80 seconds about every 10 minutes due to the insane amount of water we have. It worked perfectly. It's also super quiet. The old septic tank woke us up at night. I'm very glad I bought it and that it was easy to install. Anyone who says it doesn't last is crazy. It's basically a workhorse. Worth the money and patience knowing it won't screw you up. It was also built in the USA. A bunch of cast iron and durable parts. That thing looks like a damn cannonball. #murika
