I was hesitant to buy this one just because there are so many options for air purifiers and I wasn't sure if it was plastic because I bought one that was so smelled bad Because of bad plastic I had to send them back. With that, I took it out of the box and left it in the garage for a day. Then I took it to the basement and turned it on. It smelled like plastic for a few minutes and then disappeared. After an hour in the basement I brought it upstairs and the air seems nice and fresh with no weird smells. Mode 1 is very quiet. I bought this because we have an old house that tested positive for lead paint. The windows need to be replaced, there are paint chips. With this air purifier, I feel a little better because the air quality in my room is protected. FYI: Given the front panel feedback, I've just handled it with care and haven't had any issues so far. I could see how he can break down when treated like a man.
