I have to be honest and let you know that part of the reason for the 5 stars is because the bins are perfect for the vintage sorting mailbox I have. I've searched for years and made some of my foam board threads. I have 9 baskets. Two are holding sketchbooks and notepads, one is holding paper (construction paper, cardboard, etc.), one is holding what I call "wallet supplies" (various things I like to have in different wallets depending on the walk), one is holding knitting needles (have me a lot), one contains stationery and chargers, another sewing supplies and cutters, the other contains active projects that I had to put aside for a while, and various materials (charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, markers, etc.). I mention all this to give an idea of power and strength. Baskets of notepads and notepads are quite heavy. I don't know if I would carry them by the handles (I keep one hand on the bottom of the basket) but I don't have to. Most baskets will pull completely out of their compartment when needed. If you're looking for something to store and carry, this might not be ideal for you (unless you're bringing something fairly light). They are absolutely perfect for my use.
