Amazing quality at an incredible price. Very clean, neutral SQ, but NOT sterile or flimsy in my opinion. The amplifier is used in a secondary HDTV system. I recorded it with the following components; The Nvidia Shield TV Pro with Plex.Signal is output to a Paradigm PW-Link preamp with these features. Anthem Room Correction Software. I had a Paradigm preamp for several years and never used it unless I had the right power amp. But I really wanted to test the ARC software. Now that I've hooked it up to an SMSL power amp, I can attest that the ARC software really makes a difference. BTW $349. PW-Link currently retails for $199.00 and at that price it's a bargain. Clean preamp with desirable characteristics; WIFI, ARC, PLAY-FI and Mid-Fi DAC. These are output to the SMSL 300 power amplifier. Good quality speaker terminals but the smallest I've seen. I use 14 ga bare wire that barely fits. That's the only downside I've found with this amp. The SMSL amplifier drives a pair of Wharfedale Reva II bookshelf speakers. Suggested retail price $1,000. I bought new ones for 500€. For a 2.1 stereo system for a secondary HDTV, that's all I need. Luckily this amp has a subwoofer output which I connect to a REL wireless transceiver that sends the subwoofer signal to a QUAD LF-66 dipole subwoofer which I also got brand new and half price. The Reva 2's bookshelves are fairly neutral and of sufficient quality to do the amp justice. While the Nvidia Shield TV Pro with Plex is hardly audiophile quality, it's still far superior to a box-configured soundbar or home theater system. This whole setup, while fairly cheap, performs at a level well above its cost. My brother-in-law has two SMSL headphone amps, one desktop and one mobile amp for his cell phone. We were both thrilled with the sound quality and that made me pull the trigger with the SMSL 300 power amp and buy a cheap extended warranty. Finally, the SMSL amplifier comes with a simple, attractive remote control for volume and power control. No wonder I am very happy with this purchase.
