Review on Koji Electric Freezer Cream Maker by Matt Crawford

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works fine until you lose a small piece of plastic. then it's rubbish

Firstly it makes good ice cream and even has a mechanism in the motor to change direction if the resistance gets too high. You need to set your freezer to BELOW 20F. 10-15F is perfect. Refrigerate the ice cream base before using. There is only a certain amount of material inside the frozen part. In any case. That is the whole reason for the 3 star rating. The only thing connecting the paddle to the motor is a small piece of plastic about 2 inches long. It is not attached to any of the parts. The end of the motor is a simple rectangle with rounded corners. It is attached to the blade with a complex 6-sided tapered cone. There is no way to make or order a replacement. This company doesn't even list it on their website. *This is a conscious design choice to encourage you to purchase another. In other words, this is a perfect example of planned obsolescence. * So when you do this, be very, very careful not to lose that little piece of plastic.
