Review on ๐Ÿ”ง ATP Automotive 106007 Intake Manifold for Engine Optimization by Jason Flores

I don't really like how the injector fuel rail is mounted.

ok guys and gals here's the kicker, I was a Ford technician from 2002 to 2007, I have about 20 years of automotive experience. The selling point that made me choose this distributor was that it is compatible with OEM seals. I don't see how. I've installed countless Ford manifolds and gaskets, and this manifold has cutouts that have o-rings installed in each port. The OEM seals are two one piece seals left and right. not compatible with original seals. However, O-rings are included. I don't really like the way the injector rail assembly screws into the straight plastic screw hole. However, it comes with a different type of screws. Tip: Do not overtighten these screws, otherwise they will easily damage the holes. The passenger side injectors don't fit perfectly and leave them slightly skewed, but the o-rings help with the adjustment. Manifold does not come with injector O-rings. In my opinion the thermostat that came with the kit is fine, it opens easier than the one I already had, a thermostat that opens easier allows the coolant to cool faster which helps the manifold last longer. There are still the dreaded header plastic washers that are an integral part of the entire plastic assembly under each end of the aluminum coolant adapter. The worst part of this job is removing the ridiculous bracket behind the driver's side of the engine to access the rear 10mm bolt. There are videos on YouTube showing how it works. On my private car I threw this mount as far as I could and I'm glad it's gone. Cable ties are better and allow access to other parts. There is room for improvement with this product. For the price I have to say I can't complain as I see most of the parts today aren't made the way they used to be. I would recommend this air intake to anyone looking to save money, the engine runs fine with a new air intake. No problem. Another tip: make sure you blow all the dirt out of the old manifold before removing it to prevent dirt from getting into the valves and spark plug holes. World, bought and installed update in 2016, no problems in 2021

Pros
  • Updated gasket design places the gasket on the flange, compatible with original equipment gaskets
Cons
  • Vulgarity
